Hi, I'm Chanelle and I am a registered Senior Clinical Psychologist and accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBT) by background, with years of clinical experience.
My training and experiences has given me a broad understanding of the experiences and diversity of different population groups.
I currently work in a NHS setting working with children and young people and co-own Melanin Moods with Talisa Mesquitta. Traditionally, therapy hasn’t always been an option in Black and Brown communities or culturally-inclusive. Through melanin moods we aim to provide that much needed culture sensitivity. I invite clients to be authentically true to themselves in sessions regardless of their background or upbringing. In return, I promise to share my authentic self, so that together we can work on achieving your therapy goals and needs.
I use evidence-based approaches, like cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), compassion-focused therapy (CFT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), EMDR and trauma-focussed therapies. I would describe my therapy style as integrative leaning on different approaches to meet the client needs.
Hiya, i'm Talisa and I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist (CBT), a registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) and a level 3 Personal Trainer. My interest in mental health lead me to first complete a BSc in Human Psychology back in 2010 (Fun fact: Chanelle and I both completed the same degree at the same university 2 years apart but didn't meet each other until several years later, when we both got jobs in the same service, at the university that we studied at!).
I currently work in a NHS Talking Therapies Service with adults of working age and I am the co-owner of Melanin Moods (C.I.C). I have over 10 years experience of working in the field of mental health, in various settings such as acute inpatient services, crisis teams, community early interventions services for young people and university student support services. Through the years I have developed a keen interest in improving the mental health and well-being of the Black community in particular, as I have seen how disproportionately we are represented as both service users and service providers.
As a mother, I know first hand how beneficial exercise has been in maintaining my own mental well-being, which encouraged me to begin running my own, ladies-only, fitness classes, with an emphasis on helping ladies to improve their mood, and regain their confidence through fitness. I would describe my therapy style as integrative and holistic, as I like to incorporate both my theoretical, psychological knowledge, with my understanding of fitness and its benefit on physical health and well-being.
